Stop Wasting Your Money on Employee Satisfaction
still believe the above—for the most part. However, my thoughts have shifted. I still believe that most underperformers are unhappy. Motivate me. I dare you.
In coaching individuals, one of the questions I often choose to begin a dialogue on leadership is, “What is your primary responsibility as a leader of this organization?” The responses vary greatly and, although some would claim that their response to this question is THE answer, I’ve found a number of replies that I might agree with. Entertaining, somewhat sad, but not motivating. dare you.

5 Criteria You Must Meet Before Running Your Own Employee Engagement Survey. Most leaders understand that employee engagement surveys are an important tool in helping to attract, retain, and motivate an organization’s workforce. For those that are new to the process, the threshold question is whether to go it alone and use a software platform to conduct the survey or might a managed-service scenario be a better alternative. There are pros and cons to both options. Like many, I enjoyed watching the recently completed NCAA Football playoffs – but not just the games – the ads as well. MORE >>

4 Ways Great Leaders Can Overcome Company Scarcity Issues
I teach an introductory political science class at a local university. This class utilizes an interdisciplinary approach by exploring basic economic theory, American history, and a bit of political philosophy. When introducing the section on economics, I try to reinforce the premise that economics is really the study of scarcity – what do you do when there is not enough to go around. Stated differently, economics is the social science that examines how we use limited resources to satisfy unlimited human wants. Everyone is clamoring for more. There may be a need for more talent. Of course not! MORE >>
