“The brain will absorb only what the butt can endure.” -- Anonymous Who hasn't sat through a meeting and wished there would be a fire alarm (false, of course), just so the torture would come to an end? Raise your hand if you feel like you attend too many meetings, but fear proposing an end to endless meeting would lead to more meetings to discuss the issue? Still, meetings can be important in ways you haven't considered.

I’m off to Atlanta on Friday to attend the US HR community’s HRevolution unconference. Though I’m not a fan of the royal family, I’m definitely up for more bank holidays – the opportunity to get to Atlanta and back to the UK without missing any work days is too good an opportunity to miss (presumably part of the draw behind the strong showing from the UK this year, with Mervyn Dinnen, Gareth Jones and Neil Morrison also flying out to attend). I’ll chat to you all at the weekend!

But you square your shoulders, and decide now is the time to impress the heck out of everyone. Michelle Tillis Lederman, an adjunct professor at New York University’s School of Business, says the problem is that people think they have to be something they’re not in order to impress others.
