Employee morale. Wikipedia defines it as job satisfaction or a feeling of well-being in the workplace. But morale offers more than just happiness. Research shows a clear link between employees’ morale and better job performance. Companies that use employee morale boosters see a benefit to their bottom line. The opposite is also true. Gallup estimates that actively disengaged employees (i.e. low morale) cost the U.S. $483 billion to $605 billion each year in lost productivity.

It’s five answers to five questions. Here we go…. 1. I bombed in an interview I asked for. I’m in a customer-facing role at a large company, and I’m interested in advancing into a management role. I’ve held management positions in the past, but happily took a “step back” in this job because it’s a great company, good job in itself, and it supported a family-related interstate move.

Disruptive companies aren’t created by accident. In order to hold this badge of honor, a business must successfully change how people think and behave. This is quite a tall order, especially for those companies just getting off the ground. While there’s a recipe for each business that makes it unique, only the top companies deliver innovative ideas that destroy all old ways of doing something.

In the digital world we live in, we spend a TON of time work on computers and mobile devices. Screens aren’t just part of our work life–they are how we interact with most people during the course of the workday. This isn’t a natural experience for us and it’s now how we were designed to operate, which means we must take care or we’ll inevitably run into issues with our health.

Modern go-to-market teams know it takes more than one email to break through the noise. Multiple touchpoints means more ways to get your pitch right — and, potentially, more ways to be wrong. The good news? Once you know how to write compelling, one-off emails to entice prospective customers, you can easily do the same across a short sequence of emails.

And while there’s a lot of focus in online content around different tactics to engage employees and offer them professional development opportunities at work, there’s less advice about how to support them at different stages of that employee growth.

It is important to remember that a business is not a solo entity. It needs to rely on others to thrive, be it suppliers, customers or employees. Businesses are social, and HR managers and personnel are at the forefront of ensuring it is. After all, businesses are human-led, and therefore human resources is a critical aspect, but it is not the only support system an enterprise needs to succeed. .

Most people would agree that receiving extra money is a good incentive to work harder and stay motivated on the job. Maybe you offer an annual bonus but are looking for ways to reward employees for the rest of the year to keep them motivated. There are also people, however, who prefer to be recognized in a different way. The difference is employees want to be recognized, not rewarded.

Employee engagement is no longer just HR’s problem. Business leaders, managers, and HR all need to come together to address the high level of disengaged employees in the U.S. and abroad. In fact, a recent study by Gallup reveals that only 34 percent of U.S. workers are engaged. Since companies in the U.S. realize over 85 percent of their value from the contributions of their people, the high level of disengagement is no longer something that can be ignored.
