Personally, I’m a big fan of the cost per hire metric. Back in 2012, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) worked with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) to create a uniform standard calculation for cost per hire (CPH). According to SHRM, the average cost per hire in 2016 was $4,129. I believe the goal of calculating CPH is to provide organizations with a benchmark for their recruiting activities.
