It’s an open secret that HR pros don’t much like Glassdoor’s review platform. Recently, I saw it for myself when I attended a meeting at Glassdoor’s headquarters in San Francisco, along with a group of HR leaders. Their frustration with Glassdoor was palpable. Many of my colleagues at the meeting expressed outrage about a fairly common occurrence: An employee is terminated for cause, becomes disgruntled, and posts what the company views as salacious lies about it.
Growth mindset grew out of primary school classrooms, entered corporate offices, and now heads back into the research lab. For example, as we’ve noted, Microsoft credits lots of its turnaround to growth mindset, a concept drawn out of the research of Stanford psychologist Carol Dweck about how young children (and later adults) react to challenges.
I read an article in The New Yorker on the importance of “ Coaching ” by Atul Gawande. Atul is a writer and a surgeon, smart and creative and I should hate him, but he’s so freaking brilliant! From the article: The concept of a coach is slippery. Coaches are not teachers, but they teach. They’re not your boss—in professional tennis, golf, and skating, the athlete hires and fires the coach—but they can be bossy.
When you have a complete set of culture data set from both organizations in a merger, you will be able to see—in advance—where the potential areas of friction will be. Consider the issue of collaboration. If the two organizations have starkly different approaches to collaboration, obviously there would be integration issues, so you’d want to know that ahead of time.

Receiving feedback is hard. Don't try to convince yourself that receiving feedback is "not personal" or "just business." I’ve been in HR a lot longer than I’ve been a wife or mom. I'm not going to lie: I organize my family a bit like a business! All three kids have color-coded google calendars so everyone can see events, deadlines, and priorities.
Is your team made up of people that will lead your organization to success? As organizations prepare for their annual performance reviews, managers are taking a closer look at their workforce. However, in most cases, these reviews only scratch the surface of what’s happening internally. As a result, many businesses aren’t developing their employees and promoting from within.

Performance reviews require preparation and careful consideration. Conversations should be free-flowing, but they should also serve a purpose, and ultimately, they need to convey the proper message and extract the necessary information to make for a more productive and fruitful review. These meetings can be delicate and uncomfortable, so to set the tone and steer the conversation, it’s helpful to have a set of prescribed phrases that managers can turn to in order to jumpstart conversations
The growing sense of disillusionment is right there, plain as day on the Gen Z colleague's face. She is discovering that work is.work. Ugh. It's the same thing, day after day. There are random bursts of exhilaration intermingled with many more moments of mind-numbing monotony. The working world wasn't supposed to be this dull and uninspiring. Where is the excitement promised in movies and online business articles?
First impressions count. Onboarding is a critical part of the employee lifecycle, but stats show we’re still failing to deliver great experiences for our new starters. When picking out an onboarding solution for your business, how do you ensure you tick all the boxes? Setting up our new hires for long-term success should be a leading priority for every organization.
Even as some surveys show that about 65% workers in North America say they aren’t actively looking for a new job, many of them also report they are not engaged at work. But that doesn’t mean you can relax with your employee retention efforts. Most of those folks are probably sticking around because they are uncertain about which way the economy is headed.
The HR industry is changing. Did you know… 1. There will be 4M more jobs than workers by 2033 ( BLS ). 2. For 84% of workers, flexibility is a top priority ( FlexJobs ). 3. 75% of employees have used AI at work ( CFO.com ). It’s time to meet the moment! Use Paycor’s guide to design a blueprint for success.

Modern go-to-market teams know it takes more than one email to break through the noise. Multiple touchpoints means more ways to get your pitch right — and, potentially, more ways to be wrong. The good news? Once you know how to write compelling, one-off emails to entice prospective customers, you can easily do the same across a short sequence of emails.
The holiday season is upon us. And in most parts of the world, gratitude and the holiday season go hand in hand. But while we are comfortable with gratitude on the outside, in most organizations, there tends to […].
True or False? It’s a common belief, in most Talent and HR circles, that most corporate recruiters fear agency recruiters. Go ahead and argue if you would like, but it seems a little silly. The reality is, true recruiting professionals don’t fear amateurs. It’s like a really great professional Photographer. They charge money because they offer something someone is willing to pay for.

Financial services has also spawned its own subsector in financial technology, or fintech. Globally, the financial services industry leads the world in terms of earnings and equity market capitalization.

I ran across an article recently on Medium titled “ Forget STEM, We Need MESH ”. It’s a thought provoking read. The author spends a fair amount of time kinda bashing the renewed emphasis on STEM education (science, technology, engineering, and math). His point is that all the talk about STEM is at the expense of MESH education (media literacy, ethics, sociology, and history).
