45 Things
JUNE 18, 2009
Are you afraid to take a vacation this year? The answer may depend on how secure you feel with your job right now. But if a recent study is any indication, the answer may be that instead of hauling your butt to the beach, you're going
The best review I ever had
Working Girl

I''ve written several posts about how a good manager puts the ''manage'' into performance management. think we can all agree that the manager plays an important role but what does that actually mean when push comes to shove? If there were a cut and dried formula for good management someone would bottle and sell it. There isn''t. While there are definitely some wise guiding princples, different styles and techniques work best for different people. Here are two examples of management techniques that worked well for me. Several people had noticed this and mentioned it to Joan. You make the call.

Take a look below at some of the recent feedback that ReviewSNAP has received about our performance management system. After scrutinizing over at least six Web-based systems for performance appraisals, we are very happy that we selected the ReviewSNAP application to support our performance management process. The system''s design is simple and efficient and has taken the "fuss" out of the performance management process. But one of the best aspects of the ReviewSNAP application is the team behind the product.the sales staff and the Account Managers are incredibly responsive and professional.

Our Strength Lies in Our.

Unity. know you thought I was going to say "our strength lies in our diversity." That (and similar messages) are prevalent. We have diversity committees, VPs of Diversity, affirmative action plans and call minority candidates "diverse candidates." Which drives me absolutely insane, but that's another topic.) When we moved to Switzerland we enrolled our daughter in one of the most "diverse" schools on the planet. Several of the children in her class spoke little to no English at the beginning of the school year. The school is highly successful. It has an outstanding reputation. Well, sure.

Low Employee Morale
ReviewSNAP
JUNE 15, 2009
Employee morale is a fuzzy issue at best. Measuring morale can be difficult and inconclusive since employees will often not reveal their true feelings. But make no mistake about it. Employee morale has a major impact on productivity and ultimately profitability. Most of the time, we will have a sense about the level of morale within a work unit or company as a whole. It is not hard to see when morale is generally high or when it is generally low. Employee groups that work hard, smile and have a little bounce in their step when they come to work would seem to have a high level of morale.
