What to Wear
Evil HR Lady
AUGUST 13, 2009
I have a interview attire question I hope you can help with, should I wear a jacket to an interview? have an in-person interview in a few weeks and have been told that the interview attire should be business casual. understand the basics, my confusion is whether a jacket and/or tie is appropriate, I've come across conflicting information. feel more comfortable in a jacket than without in professional situations, but I don't want to overdress. My gut instinct is that it is better to be more formal than less, but I don't have much real experience in the business world. Definitely a tie.

Our updates include. changes in legislation that impact the field of human resource management; relevant court cases; developments in human resource practices; and. statistical data regarding employment, demographics, and etc. Also, we take the certification exams ourselves (and get feedback from others who have taken the exams) to ensure that we are covering all essential topics. We’ll start the update process soon so we can have our materials to the press before Thanksgiving. It will soon be upon us

No Money to Pay
Evil HR Lady
AUGUST 11, 2009
We are having financial issues like many companies. We are having difficulty funding our payroll and we were late last week by 2 days but made it. It doesn’t look like we will have the funding for next week’s payroll. Should I recommend to the President that we lay off all employees? At least they could apply for unemployment or look for other possible jobs. Well, based on that one paragraph I'm not sure I can give the best answer. Instead I'll ask another question: Why the all or nothing approach? Will you have zero money coming in, or would you be able to retain some people?

Changing Diapers
Evil HR Lady
AUGUST 9, 2009
Since my "official" title here in Switzerland is "Hausfrau" (really, it's on my paperwork!), I thought I'd comment on that ever so fun task of changing stinky diapers. First of all, I'd like to express my love and appreciation to the designers, scientists, engineers (diaper engineer, if there is such a thing), and marketers who created the modern disposable diaper. It will damage the poor little darling's self esteem! And we wouldn't want that, would we? found that to be one of the most laughable pieces of advice in the whole series. Come here Mr. Stink pants," I say. Am I the only one?

Informational Interviews
Evil HR Lady
AUGUST 8, 2009
I work at an organization where our managers do informational interviewers without talking with HR. Our policy per our AAP states that we only accept applications and interview candidates for open positions. Is there any harm in doing an informational interview if we have no interest in hiring them in the end? For those of you who have never had the pleasure, an AAP is an Affirmative Action Plan and is required by the good old Federal Government for some companies. It is a huge pain in the rear end. All right, you're stuck with an AAP. Granted. So, no harm done! The horror! Not a quota!
