I’m a self-professed math geek. Which is why I’m very excited to share with you today’s interview. But before we start, I want to share how I learned about Dr. Jac Fitz-enz. I’ve told this story before but I’m going to tell it again. In my very first human resources manager role, I attended a weekly department head meeting. My boss would have all of us go around the table, talk about the projects we were working on, and discuss any resources (i.e. budget and staff) we needed to achieve our goals
In August 2017, the Oregon governor signed schedule predictability legislation into law for workers in some retail, food service, and hospitality jobs. Senate Bill 828 was designed to prevent mandatory, last-minute schedule changes for on-call, low-wage workers. What used to be a weird dream at the beginning of 20 th century now is an integral part of modern life. I bet your grannies could have imagined working for a company situated in the other part of the world. But now work at a distance won’t surprise anybody. However, such shift on the job market implies some changes in HR workflow. Let’s take a look at the differences in hiring remote employees and in-house staff.
At some point, the gig economy was bound to expand into industries most never imagined. With the growing rate of Americans taking on some form of a job within the gig economy , it’s become something that many employers are seeking to understand and, in the case of the federal government, regulate. The healthcare industry is no exception. I should probably add “hiring manager” to the title of this post. The individuals responsible for finding and hiring the organization’s talent need skills. It’s not fair to simply say, “Hey! Go hire some high performers and rock stars. Oh, and do it quickly. And, cheaply.” I’m not writing this post to say that a recruiter or hiring manager needs to have these skills before they can get involved in the recruiting process.

Managing employee leave requests can be the source of a constant headache, especially during peak holiday season and busy business spells. Immigrants coming to the United States today hold more degrees than ever before—a seemingly fortuitous trend as the U.S. experiences a growing demand for highly skilled workers.
