The intent of the day is good and valid – remind managers to recognize and appreciate those on their teams. This might not be “Employee Appreciation Day” in your organization. It’s more likely it’s the annual bonus event. kind of way.

'It’s five answers to five questions. Here we go…. Fired for printing my resume at work. Can my boss fire me for having my resume in the documents at work and copying it on the company’s copy machine with the intention of faxing it? In general, using your company’s resources for your job search is seen as a very bad thing. It’s not that you can never job search; it’s the doing it on the company’s time (and with their equipment) that offends. How should I interpret these post-interview emails? . interviewed for a position 3 weeks ago. don’t regret my decision.

'Before I became a manager, I was always puzzled whenever I would be asked, in employee surveys, if I felt I had a best friend at work. Why would my employer care? Through my experiences as a manager and as a professional working with employee engagement solutions, I’ve learned why. Having a best friend indicates engagement, which in turn, correlates with productivity and other performance metrics.
