Do You Work “FOR” The Company or Do You Work “WITH” Your Company?
'A friend posted the image on the right on their Facebook page the other day. My friend is a dyed-in-the-wool environmentalist and is always posting things that reference the relationship we humans have with the Earth. Some of the posts are interesting – most are pretty left of center. But regardless of your point of view on the environment, the message in the image has some validity. Prolly Are.

Uncovering Unconscious Bias in Employee Data: A Kanjoya Customer Story
'As the topic of diversity heats up in Silicon Valley, I wanted to share a story which demonstrates the power of Kanjoya technology applied to these important issues. Using Kanjoya, one customer immediately discovered unconscious bias in their organization. First a bit about the Kanjoya approach to diversity: Kanjoya harnesses big data analytics, natural language processing (NLP), and machine learning to take the guesswork and ambiguity out of improving diversity and provide metrics to quantify previously nebulous issues. Do you have a diversity strategy?

24 Things I Learned about Behavioral Science This Weekend
'I’ve made it pretty clear that I’m a nerd of many facets. Recently I listened to an episode of Freakonomics on behavioral science and really enjoyed it, so I listened to it all over again, took notes, and created lessons for you guys from them since it was just that good. Enjoy! We need to make it safe to have conversations others won’t naturally have. That’s how you make innovation an integral part of what you do, not an after the fact, bolt-on, clunky process. The more comfortable people are in making innovative comments, the more innovation you’ll have.

What’s a Top-Rate Organization? One That Gives People Keys to the Culture
'“They have a common goal and they have to get there together.” ” That was a recent comment made by the coach of an NFL team, Chip Kelly of the Philadelphia Eagles. His comment that “ culture beats scheme ” was made in reference to trading one of his star players, who from all indications, was known as a prima donna and high maintenance. “When he talks about culture, he’s talking about a 360-degree approach,” says David Carter , executive director of the University of Southern California Sports Business Institute. more…). Do Employers Want Too Much From Candidates?
'Reading a job description can send even the most talented technologist off the proverbial deep end. Many employers’ “required” skill sets seem to include everything but the ability to teleport and build a Shaker barn; the lengthy requisites of skills and experience seem achievable only by candidates who’ve spent the past four decades using a hundred different programming languages and platforms to excel at fifty different, complicated jobs. Need for ROI. Then they think, ‘If we’re going to invest $40,000 in a candidate, they better have everything.’ Check out the latest technology jobs. MORE >>

Diversity and Inclusion Drive the Road to Remarkable
'“Half the world is. Half the world was. Half the world thinks. While the other half does…”. Neil Peart (writer and musician, “Half the World”). The nightlight burned brighter. It didn’t make any sense at the time because it was the same nightlight we always used in the hallway for our girls, and it was never usually that bright. As usual I tossed and turned earlier in the night, with the weight of my world raining down like meteors in the night sky, cratering my sleep with burning questions. woke at 3:45 am, 45 minutes before I really had to, the nightlight lighting up our white bedroom door. Answers to "Why Are You Looking for a New Job?"
'"Why are you looking for a new job?" This is often a question asked by interviewers as way to set the tone for the interview. If you answer something like "my boss is a total a**hole," then the interviewer knows he or she can make the rest of the interview fairly short. Why hire someone who badmouths a supervisor, even if the boss is an a**hole? But if you provide an interesting answer that mentions the skills you can bring to the table, the interviewer is more intrigued. In other words, the way you answer this question can make or break your chances at moving closer to getting the job. MORE >>
