What’s Your Recruiting Competitive Advantage

HR Bartender

I’ve mentioned a few times recently that the hiring market has shifted to the candidate. And we’re seeing some of the effects with increased time to fill metrics. I ran across this article recently that talks about how more than half of organizations don’t have enough internal candidates to fill their succession plan. 21 percent followed, saying they’ve seen a small change.

Be a Student !!

Everyday People

I’m a big proponent of Social Media. The various forums give us a variety of ways to communicate, connect and learn from each other. It can be overwhelming at times because it comes at us from every angle and during every moment of the day. What intrigues me though is how people approach Social Media. One thing that is challenging in how people use Social Media is when people are critical.

my boss is furious after my coworker pranked her, the deal with “hustle,” and more

Ask a Manager

It’s five answers to five questions. Here we go…. 1. My boss is furious after my coworker pranked her. Today our boss came to my desk to talk to me, in an open office area of about 40 cubicles. Her back was turned to my coworker. As she was talking to me, my coworker pulled out a fake spider and put it in my boss’s shoulder. My boss turned around, yelled, was in shock, and told her, “How dare you! I am afraid of spiders! If you do that again, I will seriously quit!” Our team sits pretty close to each other and we all just looked at each other in shock. What are your thoughts? short answers

A Microbiome of HR technology We Are

TalentCulture

The microbiome discussion had me riveted. One of multiple 10-minute presentations at the TED@IBM event really inspired me, learning about how microbes interact in symbiotic communities. This could have profound implications on keeping food production safe worldwide. At the break, an analyst friend told me about a few HR technology projects he was advising on. Remediation? Yikes , I thought.

An open door for scammers?

Jelf

Reports today highlight that the Work and Pensions Select Committee of MPs are concerned about the potential for scams following the introduction of Pension Freedoms this year. The level of charges involved needed more investigation. The Pension Wise website is not yet fit for purpose. Steve.
