Top 10 Takeaways from The HR Technology Conference 2015

HR Ringleader

The 2015 HR Technology Conference just wrapped and it is time to collect my thoughts and reflect on the event. know it’s a HR technology conference, however, those companies and speakers who focused more on the people… the human side of HR… were the winners in my eyes.  As I walked through the Expo Hall, I tried to pay special attention to the providers who talked more about the actual people and the benefit of the tools for the people than those who talked about features. That said, I have ten things I am taking away from this year’s event.

Recommended Human Resources Conferences To Attend in 2015

Unbridled Talent

Recently, one of my contacts who is planning her 2015 schedule sent me a question asking for my recommendations for the top 2 – 3 conferences to attend in the US for HR professionals. I am doing my planning for 2015 and wanted to reach out to you and get your thoughts on something if you don’t mind. One of my plans for next year is to attend more conferences in the US; ideally I’d like to attend events where there is a lot of networking, collaborating and great speakers. My Top 5 HR Conference Recommendations. 1.  The Conference Board conferences (various).

HRE Column: Rethinking Talent and Technology

Steve Boese

As usual, the Inside HR Tech column is about, well, HR Tech, (sort of like I used to write about all the time on this blog), and it was inspired by a recent HR Happy Hour Show that we did with Cecile Alper-Ler oux from Ultimate Software, and that focused (primarily) on three major trends and challenges that Ultimate Software is seeing their customers wrestling with in 2016. Not until the person is the focus of the technologies can positive experiences with the technologies abound, leaders at Ultimate stressed. From Employee Engagement to "Employee Experience".

You Need to Take Leadership Development Beyond the Classroom

HR Bartender

But building a service component into your leadership development program doesn’t have to involve going to another country. I’ve always worked for companies that allowed me to volunteer my time. One company that I know gets this concept is Ultimate Software. They did something very cool at this year’s Connections user conference. Click To Tweet.

What Are #HR Analysts and Why Should You Pay Attention To Them

HR Bartender

Examples are the Ultimate Software Connections Conference , KronosWorks Conference , and the SilkRoad Connections Conference. During those events, I learn about the companies, the products and services they provide, and how they meet the needs of human resources professionals. In my analyst role, I write about software, specifically HR software.

Platform Economy

Steve Boese

There is some really interesting information, research, and conclusions about the most important tech trends for the coming 3 - 5 years in the report, as well as a (probably unintentional) nod to my friends over at Ultimate Software as their slogan 'People First' , is literally all over the Accenture report. Tech companies and enterprises that are born digital, such as Amazon, Google, and Alibaba, have long understood the power of digital technologies. Such platform-based business models fundamentally change how companies can do business. But look a little closer.

Notes from the road #20 - Spring event roundup edition

Steve Boese

A big part of how I spend my Spring each year is making the rounds of as many HR technology solution provider events (customer conferences and.or analyst meetings), as I can, all while planning for and developing the program for the 19th Annual HR Technology Conference and Expo to be held October 4 - 7, 2016 in Chicago, IL. Globoforce - The recent Globoforce customer conference, called WorkHuman, stands out from the group in that it is a very different kind of user event in that it does not (primarily) focus on the the actual products that Globoforce develops.

NBA team jersey ads are coming - here's the HR tech vendor who should sponsor each team

Steve Boese

Since corporate ads on NBA jerseys are now absolutely going to happen, speculation about which companies will sponsor which teams has begun. How about if we pretend that only HR technology companies would be eligible for these NBA jersey sponsorship and then decide which HR tech company 'fits' each NBA team and match the NBA team to the HR tech company. Linking a company with the name of SmartRecruiters to a team in need of smarter recruiting is a good fit. Detroit Pistons - Sponsor: WorkForce Software. Miami Heat - Sponsor: Ultimate Software.

‘Tis the Season…for High Tech Announcements

Technology for Talent

While too soon for the holidays and just post-back-to-school frenzies for many, it is indeed the season for new and interesting product developments from the HR software providers. The timing for new tech product announcements has gravitated to the fall because of the predominance of the HR Tech conference (Las Vegas, October 7-10 this year) as a two-ton gorilla for providers of solutions to the HR market. Sometimes this is an advantage in getting traction with analysts – rather than an onslaught at a conference!). What can we expect and what have we seen so far.
