Can I (and Should I) Fire An Employee for Social Media Content?
UpstartHR
DECEMBER 8, 2014
There is a phenomenon that doesn’t get talked about much publicly, but it’s something that in-the-trenches HR folks deal with fairly regularly. While we want to “rise up” and think about big picture, have a strategic viewpoint, and assume the best , there are always going to be friction points that hold us back. It’s a part of the whole “working with people” thing. :-) Today I want to talk through a few recent questions I have received around the impact of social media in the workplace. Should we fire him? This is his first real job after college.

This will be a long post and possibly only of interest to those who attended or follow the HRevolution happenings. If you think this will not be interesting or applicable to you, I’d read some before you bail. :-) And this certainly won’t be the last thing I share, either. As with past years, the concepts, ideas, and questions raised at HRevolution have a way of percolating to the surface on a regular basis. Some of what I write might be obviously tied in, but other pieces will not be. Just… Wow. When we get together for HRevolution, it’s a funny paradox. And on and on.

Who should we invite? Should it be mandatory? Should we serve alcohol? Seriously?
