In my final year at university, I recall attending a seminar on how to write a good CV. Yet all the advice I ever got from books and seminars could be boiled down to one short phrase: make your CV stand out. CVs are now stored digitally and increasingly fed through resume-parsing recruitment software like Workable.
Unfortunately, many small business owners don’t have the budget for big-ticket seminars or workshops, so they assume all company-sponsored professional development is simply out of reach. A respected senior executive could teach a seminar about leadership, or your IT expert could lead a workshop on a new software program recently implemented.

So recruiting, development, retaining processes have to keep up with this pace.
